firefox not working on linux

Hi all
Im a newbie on linux. I just installed ubuntu 10.04 on my dell pc and it working very well. I also connect linksys usb wireless card to pc and my pc receives network connection without any problem. When I try to open firefox browser it does say"firefox cant find the server at start.ubuntu.com and asking me to check network connection or make sure that firefox is permitted to access the web.

Could anyone help me to solve this problem step by step? Thanks a lot

Welcome to LQ
Make sure you have the correct DNS configured.
Can you ping on IP?
Code:

ping 212.100.160.51

If you are picking up wireless networks but are not connected to any one of them, click the Network Manager icon in the System Tray (on the top right, the icon that looks like several curved lines [like waves] curving around a dot) and a list of wireless networks will show up. Select your network and type in any security keys you may have for it, and then you're all set!

Can you tell me the model number of your Linksys USB adapter? That may help me to point you to the HCL so you can see just how it works with Linux.
