Firefox Not Showing That JDK 8u144 Is Installed...

I am using Slackware 14.2, 64-bit, with Firefox 52.3.0.

I just installed Oracle's JDK 8u144 (https://slackbuilds.org/repository/1...velopment/jdk/) but the plugin does not show up in Add-Ons -> Plugins.

I understand that Java is no longer activated by default, but how do I activate it? The Java Control Panel shows the box "Enable Java content in the browser" checked.

What else do I need to do?

PS: Yes, I am aware of the security risks involved by installing Java...

Hi,

Quote:
Firefox 52 and above

Beginning with Firefox 52 (released March 2017), plug-in support is limited to Adobe Flash, and drops support for NPAPI, impacting plugins for Java, Silverlight, and other similar NPAPI based plugins.

If you have problems accessing Java applications using Firefox, Oracle recommends using Internet Explorer (Windows) or Safari (Mac OS X) instead. Developers and System administrators looking for alternative ways to support Firefox users should see this blog regarding Launching Web Start applications.
