Firefox has always been my main browser of choice. But it is becoming unusable because some sites have missing elements. For example, certain web forms don't show up in firefox, but do show up when I use the google chrome browser. I suspect the site is using some adobe product to create those web forms.
The same goes for video in firefox as well, sometimes it plays and sometimes it doesn't.
It gets tedious switching between firefox and google chrome, but I just can't stop using firefox despite it short comings in linux. I just hope mozilla can make firefox work on sites where google chrome does.
I can't as these are business opportunity sites. I don't want to appear as a spammer. There are some sites that are not business opportunity types, but I can't recall one right now.

Also, can you tell us the version of Firefox you're using?

Hi...
There's not a lot here to go on but, even though they're older, if you'd like, you can try the solutions mentioned here and here.
I use Firefox from time to time (mostly I use Seamonkey, its poor cousin). I have not encountered any issues. My gut reaction is that the issue is not so much with the browser as it is with poorly designed websites.
I keep hearing persons say that Firefox is getting slow and clunky, but that has not been my experience.
(I use Seamonkey because of it integrates the browser, email client, RSS reader, and so on, in one package. I have find it quite satisfactory.)
without a real example there's nothing we can do - i never had this sort of problem with firefox.
maybe you're just missing the flashplugin? or, even if you have it installed, there's a chance that this website requires a newer version.
in any case, we need some real info from you:
distro and version
firefox version
flashplugin installed? version?
link to at least one example that works on chrome, but not on firefox
Distribution: Debian Sid AMD64, Raspbian Wheezy, various VMs

Indeed, without examples it's hard to tell what might be wrong but my guess is simply that you forgot to install Flash. I'm another who's never had issues using Firefox (well, sometimes I have to turn off NoScript).
There's always been a problem with websites that have only been tested on one browser and I doubt that it will ever go away. I keep a copy of Firefox for sites that won't work with Opera, and yesterday I found one that wouldn't display anything with either. It's sometimes worth reporting it. Years ago my shirt-makers were quite indignant that their new site only worked with Internet Explorer and went after the designers for a free re-write!
I do have flash installed for a long, long time. It's at version 11.2. Some times will play flash content automatically or in some cases I have to click enable flash on some sites. Some times it's just a black screen with no further actions.
As I said before, they're are business opportunities sites. I don't think LQ will allow biz oppts sites as it will look as if I am promoting an affiliate program.
This is not a major emergency issue. If a site is missing any elements in firefox then I just use the google chrome browser.
Firefox is currently at; mozilla-firefox-43.0.2-x86_64 for me and a flashplugin as; flashplayer-plugin-11.2.202.554-x86_64
I would update from your repository for the Gnu/Linux in use, yours are considered a security risk thus producing errors when used by visiting sites. In the last week Firefox has one major & 2 minor updates made available to users.
Both Firefox and flash have upgrades available and that could solve your issues by updating properly.
well, without providing any examples (i don't understand your reluctance; i think it is clear by now that you are not trying to promote commercial websites) - ...
but i must admit, this:

is a possibility.
adobe has stopped development of flash for linux, only providing security updates. it's still on version 11.2., whereas other operating systems are on 19.x, i believe...
there is, however, attempts to make newer flash available for linux, too.
one thing is the google chrome browser uou already mentioned.
i think chromium might work just as well, and is FOSS. which, of course, would be preferable on a FOSS operating system.
other than that, the internet is extremely diverse and there will always be differences how browsers render webpages.
it's not a linux problem.
i think one should always have a "spare browser" installed.
