When you run firefox from the command line, what does it say? It is always a good idea to open programs from the command-line when debugging them. It usually drops a far better error message than "not opening" ;)

The full path is /usr/local/lib/firefox-3.0b2/firefox
and nowhere else.
The startscript is also in your compiled result:
mozilla/browser/app/firefox
and works fine here.
