Lightbulb Firefox Certificate Popup Help.

I'm trying to edit Firefox so that I won't get a certificate popup. I am visiting a site which has a self signed certificate and keep getting a "The web site's certificate cannot be verified. Do you want to continue?" popup. I then have to tick "Always trust content from this publisher" and press "Yes" to continue to access the site. If I click more information it tells me the certificate has come from a company which is not trusted, however I thought that’s what the trust tags did?
I have successfully imported the self signed certificate into the cert8.db with the trust tags TC,,C. Without these trust tags I get a different popup so I think the certificate is working, however would like to not have any popup’s. I’m using Firefox 2.0.0.16 and am trying to do it all through the command line as I will need to script it at some point. I’m using Ubuntu as my OS.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated or anywhere else i could post this would be helpful.
Thanks in advance.

I think that you must import before anything else the certificate of the CA in the certificate database, as a trusted CA (I guess you have created your own CA to sign certificates).
Then you can import certificates issued by that CA.
If you haven't already read this, take a look as it could be useful to your task.

Regards
