Firefox as root

I install Firefox as root, but cannot run i as root. I've reinstalled it several times. I get no error messages of any kind while trying to run it. I can run it as other users. From the CLI if I try to run it, it justs crashes and the prompt is ready for a new command. From gui, the tasbar shows it trying to load for 10 seconds then vanishes. No errors or anything.

How did you install firefox? Are you using a source compiled version or a package? Just asking because Slackware doesnīt have an official firefox package. I use the one from and it works fine as root or user. But why would you want to run firefox as root? It doesnīt make any sense.

I installed Firefox from the Mozilla website using Slackware 10. One of the problems is that it installes (I believe) into /usr/bin/firefox/, so if you run firefox, it thinks you want /usr/bin/firefox, which is a directory. You want to run /usr/bin/firefox/firefox.
