when I am reading the bbc news my screen will lock mouse will not move and I don't know what is causing this sometimes the screen will darken and then it will all come back on other times I haft to shut it down sometimes its 30 minutes or so my son told me to hold down alt print screen system then rts but that didn't work could anybody tell me whats going on thanks Otom ps tried ubuntu launchpad nothing so far from them. thanks guys and girls GBU all here Otom

It sounds like you have insufficient graphics capabilities. Do you know if proprietary graphics drivers were compiled and installed for your graphics card after Ubuntu was installed?. Because the minimal graphics that come with Linux are alright if you're just playing with the computer, but when you have high graphics demands like streaming video or 3D they may not cut her.

This computer is a older computer I stuck another hard drive in and never get anything going on right plays dvd s and it gets me on the internet thats about all I use it for .Don't know about the graphics part I know it has said I can't play 3d games on it or voice to work maybe I will look into a newer computer soon thanks alot for giving me something to think about O tom PS GBU and your family
