Firebird Install
can anyone describe how to install the Firebird browser on Knoppix. I've downloaded and unzipped the program to this directory /root/MozillaFirebird.
can't find any installer but the MozillaFirebird directory has a file named "run-mozilla.sh", problem is I can't seem to get it to run, I'm new to Linux so any advice appreciated.

Just to be clear, I've used Knoppix before, but I'm not versed in the idiosyncrasies...
Are you trying to run it like so?
Make sure to type the "./" (without the quotes of course ) before run-mozilla.sh
-FB

hi
chmod +x runmozilla.sh
this sets the executable bit if somehow it hasnt already been set
./runmozilla.sh
./ means the current directory. it is not on the path for security reasons.
have fun

Thanks guys for the quick replies what worked eventually was
Demonbanes suggestion ./MozillaFirebird, thanks again.
don't want to push my luck here, but is there an easier way to start-up Firebird as opposed to typing console commands, I'd like to start it from my desktop ideally, same way that you start Konqueror.

make a desktop shortcut that points to /root/MozillaFirebird/MozillaFirebird I can't remember how that's done in kde but i'd assume by rightclicking on the desktop or the MozillaFirebird file

yes I tried that, root/ MozillaFirebird directory contains a file with the same name (MozillaFirebird)
clicking on it opens the browser. but when I place a shortcut to this file on the desktop it doesn't work?

Ok first login as root or su, then creat a file , say named "firebird" that has this line in it:
/root/MozillaFirebird/MozillaFirebird
then put it in /usr/bin and do
chmod 755 /usr/bin/firebird
now right click anywhere on kde desktop, Creat New-Link to application
Give it any name you want and choose a pretty icon(one that comes with mozilla firebird is ugly..) Then in the execute tab put "/usr/bin/firebird" as the command. This should do the trick.
