firebird and thunderbird don't mix?

what's wrong with firebird, if it does'nt want to start if thunderbird is already running?

the other way (firebird first, then thunderbird or separatly) runs flawless.

Try using this script to launch Firebird

Change the FBDIR= line to the path to where you've installed Firebird, then, instead of running Firebird, run this script. Save it somewhere convenient (/home/jaan/bin ?) and change it's permissions so you can execute it. I hope it works as well for you as it works for me.
