Finishing touches

So I recently installed Linux Mint 11-64bit on my Sony Vaio laptop. Normally I prefer Crunch Bang or Debian for desktops. However, I really wanted something stable since I use this machine for work and I didn't want to have to fight with it too much. So far I haven't had to do a whole lot, I rid of gnome and installed Xfce4 which seems to simultaneously have fixed a problem I had with the machine locking up every hour or so for no apparent reason. I also installed wine and set up MS Office 2007 which is working excellent.
The two last problems (that I can think of now) which are still continuing to drive me nuts are:

1.Power management: I installed the Xfce-power-manager and configured it. but whenever I shut the lid or let the timer for suspending elapse it turns off. I'm pretty sure this is a common problem, just one I have never had to deal with. That is why I'm posting this here. Indecently, the gnome power management was doing the same thing.

2. copying and pasting in wine:
It's quite strange and this problem may be a bit more difficult to solve. but copying and pasting from outside wine to programs run under it such as excel is quite temperamental. Some times it works other times I get messages that say excel can't paste the data.

3. Oh yeah, there is a third. Were the non-free libraries changed recently? The links to them that Linux Mint provided didn't work.

Thanks
