Finding the right files for the nVidia driver

You've probably seen plenty of threads reguarding the nVidia video cards and FC3 and it's drivers. All of the threads I found in search were guides on how to install them. However, this isn't my problem. I haven't gotten to that stage yet. Right now I've downloaded the " NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7167-pkg1.run " file, however this file needs to have other files installed for the install to work. The kernel module... or something, I don't really remember. I haven't been able to locate these other required files and download and install them. Any kernel modules I've found could not install due to other packages missing that it was dependant on, and I couldn't find those either. My kernel version is 2.6.10-1.770_FC3. I know, I'm not being to specific on what files I need, but I really have no idea what those files are, and where I can find them. I'm hoping someone who has gone through the same proccess that I'm going through can point me in the right direction as to where to download the right files. Thanks in advance.

The driver install works best if you do it from a command prompt, with no Xwindows running. Here is a link to a full explaination on how to do it -

Most likely, if you need anything downloaded, the driver install will do so. You may have the best luck installing it as I did - hit ctrl-alt-F3, and that should give you a command prompt. Close down all the Xwindows processes. (Find them with ps -ef), and kill them all. Now run the installer. Chances are good it will grab anything you are missing off the net. If that doesn't work, followed the detailed instructions on the link I provided for nVidia installs.

Peace,

There's the README.txt file on the nVidia website which is quite helpful
