Finding program

Hi everyone. It's me again.
How do you find what the properties of a program are?
Hardy Heron 8.04
Now. I have installed the Gnome-Main-Menu and is on my taskbar.
When you click it you get Favorites, More Applications, Control Center options, etc.
What Id like to know is, what is the program that runs the Application Browser part of the Gnome Main Menu.
Ive installed Avant Window Manager and would like to add that as a Launch Applet. Problem is, what the heck is the program?

Finding program

Ok, I found the Application Browser by accident. I brought up System-Monitor to end a program and saw that it listed where the program was run from.
Now, the next step. What is the program/script that brings up Places, Documents, Trash, etc?
If I can find or you guys find it then my Desktop will only be AWN.
Nice and clean Desktop.
Any help will be appreciated.
