Boot any system that will come up. Mount sda1. Navigate to sda1 /var/log. dmesg is a root owned file. You can open it with any plain text editor. Copy and paste the contents to this thread.

Same approach with grub.

Now what? I feel like changing the default kernel may work but Im not sure how to do it since Ive never had to do it before. How could it be a hardware issue if my other partitions are running fine?

This is not a hardware problem. Your system boots 3 other distros.

This is probably grub2, not grub. I don't know much about grub2.

You can look in the /boot directory to see if you have another kernel to boot. Unless you have done updates, there may not be another one there. I dought very much that will fix this problem.

To use another kernel, you have to edit what ever grub this is, and point it at the kernel you want to try. You will need an initrd that matches the kernel as well.

I am almost completely lost at this point, I just want to be able to boot into this partition get my stuff off of it and wipe the drive and use one single distro. I have no idea how to save the changes I make to the grub file and I have absolutely no clue where to start with the initrd. Ive looked at a few different tutorials but none of them seem to make sense or fit my situation.

This seems to be the closest to where I'm at, at this point

From what you have told me so far, installing grub of any flavour will not buy you a thing. In fact, you run the risk of none of your other partitions booting. If the system starts to boot, changing kernels is not a good idea either. The kernel is a binary file, so unless the system has somehow damaged that file, it is probably still O.K. Your problems seem to start on the insertion of modules. This is why I asked if you had a failed update. You never answered that question. You haven't posted the dmesg file from the failed partition. That may well help determine what is failing.

I do not have a good idea, yet, of how this partition ends the boot attempts. Can you clarify? Is it at a command prompt? Is (are) there error messages? Is the keyboard locked? Do you get a gui to log into? If there are error messages, can you post as much as you can?

I know you are frustrated at this point. Take a deep breath, relax.

Alright as far as updates go the last one I remember doing was 3 weeks ago and that went fine.
I ran this command dmesg | tail and came up with some sort of output that I cant get back because the terminal is telling me that /dev/sda1 cant mount now, or that it cant be found?

If you are in one of your other systems, you will need a mount point for sda1. I usually make one in /mnt, so go to /mnt and run a command like 'mkdir sda1' ( as root user ).
That will create and empty directory.

Now as root, 'mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/sda1' and it should mount. If it does not, go to the /dev directory, do a 'ls -l sd*' and see if there is a device block there. It has to be there in order to access the partition.

To get to the correct dmesg file, you will have to navigate to the root of the file system you are on, then cd to /mnt/sda1/var/log/ and in this directory you should find the dmesg file we need to see.

Have a look yourself, we are looking for 'error' messages. Post as much as you can about these. Last boot on that system is what we need, near the bottom of that file.
