Files saved on blank DVD-R on Linux cannot be read on Windows 7
 

Files from Linuxmint 14 system saved on a blank DVD-R cannot be read on Windows 7. Insering the DVD causes Win7 to ask which files are to be burned in, it seems win7 cannot see the files that are already there.

Exactly how did you burn the files in linux?

Other issues may be bad dvd, wrong dvd, finalized, bad reader/burner.

Or wrong filesystem format.

Windows normally only handles ISO9660 or UDF formats on dvds... If you saved a linux native filesystem the Windows would choke...

Sorry about the delay in answering the responses to my question. After doing some additional homework I found that I was not burning the DVD as I thought. Not being familar with Linux Mint what I was doing was just setting aside the files to be burned. I finally found that I needed to use Brasero to actually burn the files to the DVD. I have finally burned files to the DVD which can be display in Win7.

My only problem now is learning how to use Brasero to add additional files to the DVD. I'm sure there's a way to do it, I'll just keep trying (or if anyone knows of a better program).

before you get to far into learning "Brasero" you might want to install K3B

Brasero has been having problems with gnome and other desktops ( or at least was having problems)


but k3b seams to do a better job of burning disks
