files not visible in ftp site (but present in the /var/ftp/folder of the server)

i have recently installed vsftpd in linux on my system
added a user along with a password

now when i log on to any other system using,
ftp my_ip
username:
password:

and when i upload any file..i can see it in the ftp site.. ftp://my_ip
and when i cerated a folder.. i can see it
but after uploadin any files into the folders.. i can see them only when i browse though the server ...(/var/ftp/folders/files..) but i cant see them when i try to check the ftp site through browser...

waht to do? Please help..

Check your configuration. You are describing a drop box. Check "dirlist_enable" and "download_enable" in vsftpd.conf.

Thnx bro.....shall look at it. but the problem solved with altering the directories and files permissions... the visibilty has
been restored. But do actually file permissions block visibilty in the ftp site?
and when ever i reboot the server..i have to reconfigure all the permissions and settings... does it work that way?
