file:/tmp - mysterious contents. Rm, or not rm?
My file:/tmp is filled with bizzare folders like: 023457682349, 023457682350, 023457682351 etc...
There are 3589 folders like that.
Every folder contains a folder .qt and a file .fonts.cache-1
Every .qt containts 4 files: qt_plugins_3.1rc, qt_plugins_3.1rc.lock, qtrc and qtrc.lock.
What are these folders and files?
Sometimes /tmp also containts empty files like .resolve.conf.EtWZqf - a few thousands of them.
What's up? Is my computer going crazy? rm, or not rm, that's the question.

I should imagine you can safely remove them then carefully monitor what actions (you do) create the new ones? Strike me down if I am wrong!

Ok.... kay. Let's try.

Bah... I don't know where they come from. I moved them all to another folder, and I don't see which programs needs it.
Probably, it is safe to remove them.
Thanks for your idea.

KDE is used by qt so most likely those are just random tmp files created when working in KDE. Just add a script at shutdown/reboot or boot up to remove and clear out /tmp. Usually anything in there can be safely removed, unless your running applications while X is running that may be using the files at that given time, etc.
