File sytem error on boot

I am confronting with this error Pls help.

An error occured during the file system check. Dropping you to a shelll the system will reeboot.
Give root password for maintenance.

Fschk.ext3 no such file or directory while trying to open /dev/ssd1/ssd1

This ssd1 is a solid state disk mounted.

when i type my password it says
"repair filesystem? 1#"

OS is OEL 5.5

Thanks in advance
Dave

Is this a new installation or have you been able to boot it previously?
If it was working, what changes to hardware/software were made just prior to the error?

Is the above a typo? There should not be two "ssd1" entries.
Is this the only operating system you have on the computer?
