File system check on every start -- Ubuntu 9.04

Every time I start Ubuntu 9.04 it goes through this process;-

Reading files neede to boot
(it then list a long string of files)
then
Superblock last mount time is in the future FIXED
Superblock last mount time is in the future FIXED

/dev/sda6 has file system last checked in the future, check forced

it does the check and gives

fsck died with status 3

It then starts at the top and does the whole thing again for /dev/sda4

After this it boot OK.

Additional info.
I have Ubuntu 8.10 on /dev/sda4 and 9.04 on /dev/sda6

Any help would be appreciated
Cliff

I don't known if this could help you.

That looked useful and I worked my way through it but the problem was still there.
For an unrelated reason I changed the BIOS backup battery and that fixed it. I can't really see why!-- but its fixed
Thanks
