File System Check error

Hi, am a newbie to linux.

I started with fedora 8.

I installed fedora 8 it took lot of time finally installed.
Then problem arises after the first boot.
It was correctly booted first to fedora then an error in file system check(fsck.ext2)and some message.
then it leaves in bash with repair filesystem and it expects some command to repair it.
I really got struck there.Really dont know what to do.

and there is a warning SELinux is active then a message followed cammand setenforce 1 to reenable.

Please anbody help.

If installation went well and the first boot leads to such system errors, then your hard disk might have some problem, most likely a hardware problem unrelated to the installation.

I would suggest to try a new install with a base system only. This will not take as long as a full install with all existing packages.

Difficult to give any better suggestions if you do not provide any infos about hardware and install options.

Its duel booting with the windows. But what i did i was fedora installed on sata hard disk and windows is on another hard disk.

Processor AMD Athlon 2800+
Asrock K8Upgarde VM800, VIA chipset, 512 MB RAM.

I partitioned 160 GB SATA hard disk into 5 partitions. Around 9GB for root, 2gb for swap.

I installed it using install DVD.
I used custom partition rather than default partition. Is that a problem.
If I use default partition, is it formats any drive which may cause data loss.

The error message was some magic number is wrong and try executing some superblock.

with a new install ,on the full disk ( sdb1,2,3,4,5) i would just reformat it .gparted is in the install dvd but i like SystemRescueCd
just remove all partitions on the second disk and reinstall fedora 8 .
My custom lay out is
/dev/sdb1 10 gig ntfs to share with windows , next install i am getting rid of it
/dev/sdb2 130 gig for data
/dev/sdb3 / boot
/dev/sdb4 extended
/dev/sdb5 3 gig swap
/dev/sdb6 5 gig /home
/dev/sdb7 41 gig / for fedora

if i mess up the os then i just reinstall fedora 8 on sdb7 only and i am back in bis.

all this was set up with the install disk back in my fedora 5 days
and then again sdb4 to 7 with SystemRescueCd
