File Sharing Through NFS

I need to share files between 2 linux machines using NFS.
Can someone help me start up the server and share files?

Which distro are you using? If it's Ubuntu, read this. If it's a different distro, read it anyway, it will still be useful.

No, you need a kernel with NFS build in or NFS build as a module.

Edit:
You need some basic applications, but those often come with the distro.
