File Searching

I'm having trouble searching through the hard drives using the "locate" command. When I insterted a file called abc0 up to abc10 and typed "locate abc", nothing comes out. I don't think it's required to type in the full name of the file because I tried some random words and it searched a lot of files.

I tried this because I can't seem to locate old files I have in my 2nd hard drive formatted as vfat. Are there issues regarding vfat?

You need to 'updatedb' if you've added files since the last update and want to find them right away. As far as I know, if the filesystem is mounted and readable, there are no issues with specific type.
