File saving manager - rename instead of overwrite.

Hello.
I assume, that Linux is sufficiently optimizable for this:

The file saving dialogue of Xfce/Ubuntu Studio (bootable DVD) should automatically rename the file with timestamp and number instead of offering me whether I would like to overwrite or not to save the file at all.

How is that possible?
I would appreciate any help.

my filemanager does that - not exactly, and not automatically, but it does NOT overwrite anything.
which file saving dialog are you talking about?

It depends which program you use. If nothing else you can use krename.
