file mailcap prob...

hi, i was tryin to install sumthing and it said i needed to add a line in this file etc/mailcap .. only thing is i seemed to have wiped the page completely and now when i double click it, it says theres no association... erm.. what have i done?.. how important is this file? and can anyone help me to sort it out and put it back to how it is supposed to be?
