File copy speed over network

Hi all,

Is there a built in utility in red hat to see transfer rate of files. For example, I'm coping a large 5 gb file over from a mounted filesystem (emc san). It seems to start out at a good speed but then after about 40mbs it starts staggering. Now I have a gigi copper network so I wanted to see what rate im getting. Also, i verified there is no load on either the emc unit or the server I'm copying to.

Thanks

you can run vmstat or iostat while transferring the file or you can use a secure copy (scp).
