File & directory questions
 
I have D/L a fax program, which directory would be a appropiate one to put it in ? It currently resides in my home directory. I am running Redhat 8.0. How would I transfer this file from my home directory to the appropiate one using the Gnome GUI ? Thankyou Joe47

Most of the time if you download a program and while installing, its going to place the program in the default appropiate place unless you tell it otherwise.
Most programs are installed to /usr/bin or /usr/local/bin. What kind of file is it, rpm or tar.gz ? And have you compiled or installed it yet ? If you supply more details we can probably be of more help.
