Great. On other fora I would write a succinct, brusque response to this. But seeing as this is LQ I have to tread somewhat carefully...

OP, your post is missing vital information.

- what is it exactly that you're trying to do?
- which Linux distribution are you using?
- which desktop environment?

We're not psychic here [even though I wish we were].

EDIT: oh look:

Are you trying to install Ubuntu or something? Seriously, we shouldn't have to be running around doing this guesswork for you.
