figuring out 'file system' and 'swap file system' types

If anyone can help me figure out whether or not the following statements are true about my installation of SuSE 9.2 Pro, I would be grateful.

- Should be Ext 2/3 (type 0x83) file system.

- Use either type0 or type1 swap file system (type 0x82).

Thanks!

Are you trying to partition your drive to install Linux or something? The installer should be able to set up all partitions properly.

No everything is set up just fine. The problem is my employer wants to replace my hard drive (the existing variety of HD I have has proven on colleagues' machines to be prone to dying), and I'm the only kid on the block with a linux partition. They are going to create a mirror of my hard drive, and I'm trying to make sure they actually capture my linux stuff. The Symantec software they plan on using is only going to work with the configuration I specified in my original post. So I need to check this out before I set them loose on my machine.

PS - I was my own installer, which goes to show how little you really need to know to install linux! :)

Figured out that I can see the file system type by looking in /etc/fstab and evalating the file type of my linux partition. It so happens my file system type is reiferfs.

Still working on figuring out the swap file system type...
