Ffmpeg shows stopped in background

hello everybody

I am trying to understand foreground and background jobs. I googled this to try it out with ffmpeg.

Code:
ffmpeg -i lbss2e1.mp4 -c:v libx264 -q:v 3 -y test.mp4 -loglevel quiet &
[1] 23218
When I type jobs, it says
Code:
jobs
[1]+ Stopped ffmpeg -i lbss2e1.mp4 -c:v libx264 -q:v 3 -y test.mp4 -loglevel quiet
When I type fg, it resumes ffmpeg.

I am confused. Did ffmpeg really stopped? Or is this a bug?

Hello everyone,

I don't need help with this because anymore. I don't see any benefits putting a job in the background. You can't see if the encoding is finished or if there are errors.

I going to use ffmpeg the normal way. Peace out...

Hi and welcome to LQ.

Whatever the technical issue may be, profanity of that nature is not acceptable on LQ. Please re-edit your post to remove that.
