Back again. I need to deploy a mail server internally in one of the sites where there are around 100 employs. And this is not going to be for outside world and it wont be used to send emails outside my network. I am finalizing on Zimbra community.
We have our site hosted outside and have one enmail from them. I want everyone to share this email id for communicating with outside world. So everyone will have their mails sent on this email id and I will fetch it from there. Fetchmail can do this.
But here is the catch. What I want is that in some way want Fetchmail to decide which mail to be sent to internal id.
Like say I have on external email info@myexternaldom.com. And have internal mails like user1@internaldom.local, user2@internaldom.local and so on. Can fetchmail decide which mail to send to user1 and which to user2?

Also can Zimbra mta be configured to relay emails from external server for external email addresses?

I think what you want is Procmail. In conjunction with Fetchmail. At one time I used these two programs with Spamassassin to combat spam when it was really bad. Now all I use it Alpine, but I only have a small home network working with a simple hub. But try Procmail with Fetchmail. The documentation is lengthy but I think you'll accomplish what you need with those.

I have not worked too aggressively with mail servers. A bit of here and there with Zimbra and sendmail. But never got to work with Fetchmail. But as I said, there is a catch. From what I have read, I need fetchmail in rc file in every user home directory. Whereas, I need to download mails from only one user. And once the mails have been downloaded, want fetchmail to make decisions as to which mail to be forwarded to which internal mailbox. And as far as I could understand, fetchmail will not do this. I want fetchmail to read the subject of the mail and then send it accordingly.
There is getmail that can read some headers. I am looking into it now.
