fedora3 w/motorola wn825g driver install help needed

new rookie user (just got fedora install and first boot last night) I want to install a wifi card, but can't understand the instructions that i've found on the net. i see that there are emulators available that use the windoze drivers, but i don't understand how to use them. system is as follows; dell lattitude cpt, fedora3, motorola wn825g card. the install was from the 'dummies' book dvd to a blank hard drive. I also have a 2wire 802.11g card. i don't have a preference of which i use. Is this enough information? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Rex Carrs

Have you tried the HCL from this excellent site?
http://www.linuxquestions.org/hcl/sh...t=1593&cat=all

You can install ndiswrapper using yum. No brainer... also see the mini-howto:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/linux/...180_mini_HOWTO
... discussed here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=249644

You should see www.fedorafaq.org/FC3 and www.mjmwired.net for a no-nonsence FC3 post-install guide.

thanx for the help. I can see that i didn't search enuff b4 posting my q. I have read all the links, and it seems a little over my head right now. im gonna keep reading them till it makes sense to me. I know that if i can read, comprehend and program in machine tool 'g-code' that i can surely learn another programing language. thanx again.

It's the same method - only you have a different win driver.

Basically, you enable the livna repository; then...

# yum install ndsiwrapper kernel-module-ndiswrapper-$(uname -r)

Obtain your driver - it will have a pile of files in it ... you need the .inf and the .sys file.

Copy these two files to another directory (get rid of the other files, you won't be needing them)... and from that directory invoke ndiswrapper to load the module thus:

# /usr/sbin/ndiswrapper -i <driver>.inf

And that's it.

well, this isnt working. i cant seem to be able to install ndiswrapper. i think i might have stuffed the install, so im gonna start over. i have a host of error msgs on boot. ill wipe the drive, reinstall, and then try ndiswrapper again. ill post when i get back to the wireless install. Thanks for your help. I realy appreciate you taking the time to guide me. thanx again
