Fedora won't install on 3GB drive
Hi,
I'm trying to install FC4 on an old machine with a 3GB hard drive. My / partition has about 2.4 GB of space, the rest is for /home, swap etc. After choosing the packages I want, the install size is about 1.1 GB and after the installer formats my partitions it claims that I don't have enough free disk space for the install image. I used Disk Driud to delete my old partition scheme and I created a new one so I'm unsure about why I'm getting this error. If anyone has any ideas I'd be happy to hear them!! thanks |
Your harddisk is to small.

Do you have an explanation as to how 1.1 GB won't fit on a partition that has 2.4GB of space. That's more than twice the amount of space needed. Even if I try the minimal install which is about 700 some odd MB of space it won't fit. But 700 some odd MB< 2.4 GB
so how can the hard disk be too small!! |
Hi,
Check out this site: http://fedora.redhat.com/docs/releas...-hardware-reqs You can also use fdisk to check if your partitiontable is ok. (and list it here) Hope this helps you... Anyways I would recommend that you install a distribution that requires less space, for example Vectorlinux. :p :D |
thanks for the info
