fedora problem

Hello,
I am running Fedora Core 3 on my laptop, and today I discovered a problem.
For some reason, my bottom panel bar is broken, all items have disappeared... well, that's not the problem, because I can add them again... but the problem is, when I minimise a window, it doesn't show up in the panel bar... what can I do to repair this?

Thank you,
Jenny

Which windowmanager are you using? Might help us tell you what could be going on

Where can I find out which Windows Manager I am using? Sorry, but I am new to Linux.

Well, when I click on the panel and select properties... it says About GNOME.

Maybe I should add that this problem is only when I log on as 'jen', if I log on as root, everything is fine.
