Fedora installation

Hi everyone;
I tried to install fedora on windows 8 using vmware workstation. when I did power on this virtual machine, I have this error:

Unable to open file "C:\Users\kalifa\Desktop\fedora-18-x86_64 -Lab1&2&3-Forensic\fedora-18-x86_64 -Lab1&2&3-Forensic\fedora-18-x86_64 - Copie\fedora-18-x86_64.vmdk":

The system cannot find the file specified.

Can you help me please in order to fix this problem.

for starters
Fedora 18 is dead and unsupported
and
Fedora 19 is dead and unsupported
and
Fedora 20 is dead and unsupported
and in one month !!!
Fedora 21 WILL be dead and unsupported

please install a supported operating system that DOSE still get updates

Fedora 23 is the current
and Fedora 22 is the older version that ONLY has 7 MONTHS of support left

If you don't mind I have another question I try to install green cloud simulator from this link :
http://greencloud.gforge.uni.lu/vm.html

but the problem that I had is when I try to open it using oracle VM virtual box I got this error:

the system cannot find the file specified.

Thanks in advance

To add, the same error "the system cannot find the specified file" appears all the time when I try to open any operating System using VM virtual box or VMware workstation.

What is "it"? What are you trying to open?
The greencloud download is a gzipped tar file; VirtualBox doesn't know what to do with it. You need to unpack the file first; there is even a video on the greencloud home page that shows how it's done (on a MAC, you need to adapt this to Windows).

Regarding your earlier problems with installing Fedora it's not quite clear what you are doing. Were you successful in installing it, and the error appeared when you started your freshly installed system? Or did this error occur when you tried installing it?

In short, tell us what were your steps.

The error message indicates that you gave VMware the following file as system image:
Code:
C:\Users\kalifa\Desktop\fedora-18-x86_64 -Lab1&2&3-Forensic\fedora-18-x86_64 -Lab1&2&3-Forensic\fedora-18-x86_64 - Copie\fedora-18-x86_64.vmdk
But this file doesn't exist (perhaps it was moved to a different location) when you start the VM.

Finally:
Quote:

How did you establish those operating systems? As above, the error indicates that the operating system image is not at the location that VMware or VirtualBox expect.

First, remove the existing virtual machine that has the same UUID.

Grub doesn't find its config file. Boot the rescue system from the installation DVD and reinstall grub. There are many recipes for that on the internet, and perhaps on the Fedora wiki as well.

If that error occurs when booting the Greencloud VM, ask the Greencloud people for suggestions.
