fedora fedora !! need to know how to get to command line
hi, well i was using rh9 the past couple days
and then i started to think , well rh9 and fedora have the same project team almost, maybe fedora is more updated than rh9?!??!?! ( this is becuase i wnated to update my drivers but i kept getting stuck on how to update the stupid kernel. ) anyways SO I instlal fedora on my laptop and THEN GUESS WHAT@?!??! it doenst give me the option of graphical or text.. so i get raped by that becuase i have probelms wiht my display drivers. cant boot up to graphical without changing to vesa anyways i cant get into command line, and i tried edititng from linux rescue, but it wont let me freaking change the 5 to a 3 in inittab if you guys have another method of reaching command line before it boots that woudl help me millions! byebey guys have a nice and wonderful day! unless you guys are night guys like me! then have a wonderful night! wow im being wierd sorry guys to bring thisinto this forum. hEHEHEHEH eEREHADFHADGADGADFAFDAFDdf |
You can change your init level within your bootloader. For LILO you press ESC then type "linux" (or whatever the name of the boot image you'd like to boot) followed by the number of the level you'd like to enter (i.e "linux 3"). For GRUB you should be able to select the boot image then press "e" to edit the boot options then append it with "single" to enter init 1 (a number to enter level 3 or whatever might work too, but not sure as I don't use GRUB anymore).

If you are using grub then you would put at the end of the line init 3 to go into runlevel 3.

why not a ctrl+alt+F1 to a command line, login as root and then edit inittab?
or start a terminal and do it? can't be that hard can it :P |
