I am currently running Fedora core 1, but would like to upgrade to FC-3. Can some one tell me the easiest way to do this? I would like to keep the files, ect. that are on my hard drive. Would the CD or downloading files be the best way? Thank you!
3 weeks ago i made an upgrade from FC1 to FC3 via installation cd´s.
overall there were no probs on my box. only a few configs must be changed/edited.
the new X-server went fine, but i lost the sound. neither alsa nor oss work.

Wow...I thought maybe I could download the files to FC1 and install from that....but what you are saying is,, I should make the CDs? That sucks about the sound problem. I am worried because it was a pain to load Mplayer, and also to get Xmms to play Mp3s
you can also upgrade via ftp or http or from the iso images on your hard drive. just make sure all the files md5sum correctly.
you will however need the fc3 boot image that's on cd1.
just burn the boot image to cd and boot from cd
it''ll ask where do you want to install or upgrade from.
hello surfmonkey,
I downloaded the FC3 iso´s, boot from the 1st CD and choose upgrade!
On my FC1 I had also running mplayer, xine, xmms ....hmm...tried different things but nothing worked, so I decided to kill my upgraded FC3 and made a fresh install.
