fedora core 5 installer reboots with missing package

I am newbie, and I have a huge problem. My fedora core 5 installation seemed to be going really well, until the start of the actual transferring and copying the packages page. Then, right when it was about to start, it crashes and gives an error message saying the so and so package cannot be installed. This is usual due to a corrupt package or disk. It gives the only optiion to reboot, and I keep getting it. I did a cd scan, and it passed. Everything else seems fine, except the packages can't copied. Please Help!

Look man. There is a couple of things that could be going wrong. It could be a disk error that the media check has not picked up, or your cd drive might have a few issues. However there were/are some iso's that were realised with some missing dependencies; this could be your problem. Solution: To check that its not your cd drive, try changing drives for a test. If this doesnt work use whatever os you were using to copy the iso's onto another disk. However if they are bad iso's you will need to get new ones.

ps. There are quite a few other threads with the same topic on this site so have a look at those. You should search/ read them before starting a new thread else some of the other members of the site might get a little annoyed.

Download this file:

Burn the image to a CD and boot with it. When it asks you for info you want network install (ftp), DHCP,

Directory: /fedora/core/5/i386/os/

And let it go. You can configure the package selection during the install, but I would wait until you get a good basic install, and then use Synaptic to install the rest of what you want. If it can't install stage2.img, try this for a directory:

Exactly what you had, but with Fedora on the end:

This will install FC5 over the internet.
