Fedora core 4 won't install

Can someone help me figure out what is going wrong with my FC 4 installation? I am trying to install FC 4 on top of FC 2, but every time I re-boot, it just restarts FC 2. I went into the BIOS and made sure that the cdrom was the first in line during the process, but it just skips over it like it isn't there. I also tried several other drive option in case it might think they are the cdrom, but nothing different happenned. I know the cdrom is working because I can find the FC 4 cd after I restart. so what is going on?

It sounds like the Fedora CD your trying to boot from isnt bootable. Have you tried another bootable CD in your drive?

Dear friend,
thanks for the responce to my post. I think you are right, because I put FC 2 cd #1 in and it did just as it was supposed to. so now what? I thought I was supposed to be able to install right from the cd with the FC 4 cd's I have, but apparently not. these are called Fedora project core 4 x86, source cd. Does that mean I have to jump thru hoops my newbie self is not up to? I hope not, as I paid for these install cd's just so I could avoid all that. I would have just downloaded them off the net somewhere if I didn't care about that stuff.

Do a HD install.
Copy the cd / dvd to hardrive, try it is a one file .iso to start (if this does ot work then just copy all the dir's and files) with and then copy the isolinux directory that is on the cd to the hard drive.
Boot into grub and type 'c' - you;ll come up with a command prompt.
At the prompt select your partition with $ root (hd0,5)
$ kernel /path2isolinux/vmlinuz
$ initrd /path2isolinux/initrd.img
$ boot

PS to cp the dvd use $ dd if=/dev/your_cd_device of=/home/mine/fc4.iso
