Fedora Core 4 on IMac G3 won't boot
I am trying to Install Fedora Core 4 on an Imac G3 (Tray Load 333Mhz)
The installation goes fine and everything seems ok but when i try to boot after finishing the setup i just get to the Apple Firmware and i can't get it to boot. When i Partitioned the HD i made an Apple Bootstrap a / a /boot an Ext3 and a swap partition. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks |
Well first of all Fedora Core 4 is pretty old. Fedora 8 is being released in a couple of days.
Also, you need a distribution specifically built for a mac (powerpc). I don't know if there is a version for Fedora. I know Ubuntu dropped theirs. Maybe Suse is an option. |
debian supports powerpc

This is a PPC version on fedora core 4, I would use one of the newer versions, but i am having difficulty finding the PPC versions of them on CD, as this Imac does not have a dvd drive.
Edit: I am trying Fedora 6 as I found The PPC version on CD. Will post again after i install and test |
