Fedora Core 4: not finding CD drive

Doing a first install on a stand alone system. Working from the command line. I can't 'locate' files on a CD. It's not a hardware problem because I loaded from a DVD. Do I need to setup for drives other than the hard drive?

Did you mount your DVD drive? Read "man mount" for more details. You need to figure out which device is your DVD (usually there's a /dev/dvd on fedora linked to the correct device) and then, when you have a DVD in the drive, do:

mount /dev/dvd /media/dvd

Make sure that the /media/dvd directory exists first!

You can set up automounter to mount media devices automatically (it would be done for you if you were using Fedora's Gnome or KDE GUI).

Thanks btmiller. That was the problem.

My drive is a combination cd(r/w) and DVD(r). Should I mount twice (once for cd and once for DVD) or can both be setup with a single mount?
