fedora core 3 not booting

i have just installed fedora core 3 over a fedora core 2 installation. I rebuilt the partitions and basically just acdcepted the default install after the 1st reboot after install I just got a blank screen which says :

GRUB

i then loaded the rescue3 disk and typed

linux rescue

then when booted up i typed

chroot /mnt/sysimage
grub-install /dev/hda

this gave me the following :

Installation finished. No error reported.
This is the contents of the device map /boot/grub/device.map
Check if this is correct or not. etc....

# this device map was generated by anaconda
(fd0) /dev/fd0
(hd0) /dev/hda

So I rebooted (took out rescue cd) and I now get this :

Grub loading stage 1.5

Grub loading, please wait
error 2

Just researched 'Grub loading, please wait
error 2" and there seems to be a problem in RH also. Maybe it is a bug which I don't understand. TAKEN FROM:
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bu.../msg00159.html

Quote:

"GRUB Loading stage1.5.

GRUB loading, please wait..."

.....and it hangs.

If I yank the SX6000 card, I get some errors about the pti_st module not
finding a device, which is correct, and it boots normally.
