Unhappy Fedora Core 3 Installation problem (from a dvd) urgent

im in need of installing fedora core 3 specifically so i downloaded the iso and burned it.

anyway i installed it on my laptop with no problem , but as i need a pc with parallel port (which my laptop doesnt support) i managed to install it on 2 pcs

1)the first one an error happend saying that the driver or the harddisk is not read or not found and it prompt me to Add a one and i tried but i couldnt even found my HD in a one , the problem i think arise from that my HD is connected through SATA knowing that i searched the net for this problem but found no direct or no solution actually applicable

2)when i tried to install Fedora core 3 on another PC which is not SATA this time (to avoid this problem) another Problem arise as the installation ask me to select the place that contain the fedora which should be my cd or dvd but when i select it it says that it is not found
i even tried to browse till i reached the .iso file i have on my disk but it also said it is no found

Please anyone help as i read everything on the internet and nothing gave a solution all give only the reason of the problem (Which i already know )

Thanks in Advance

When you look at the directory of the cd/dvd do you see a .iso file? If so you burned it incorrectly. You need to burn it as an image.

In order to do this successfully you will probably have to use hardware that is older than FC3. If you can tell us why it has to be FC3 I suspect we can find an easier way around this situation. One idea would be to use RHEL/Centos 4.X (which was based on FC3).

the reason i use fedora core 3 as im using a platform that will only work on it , it is little bit complicated to discuss why fedora core 3 and will take a lot of time , anyway its not our issue our issue is installing fedora core 3

and about the image 4 sure i burnt it in a right way and i know that it comes as iso (dont worry im an engineer ) and i already installed it on my laptop so the DVD works fine

and for why im installing it on a PC because i need a parallel port

and for why didnt i use a converter from USB to // port as it will not work in my case

and about the OS u suggested if it is exactly like fedora core 3 except the logo i can use it unless it will not work for me 2 i think

Thanks

There are two reasons that it is NOT exactly like FC3.

1. It is still supported.

2. Because it is still supported, the updated versions (like 4.7) have support for the newer hardware (ie sata). RHEL/Centos sticks with the major release numbers of the installed components (kernel, etc) but they back patch those components for security and newer hardware support. License wise Centos is in the same category as Fedora (free, no $).

I mentioned burning the iso becuase I suspected you were an engineer.

find your self a 8 year old computer and install the very old and dead fedora 3 on that .

fedora 3 is so old that it will not run ( or install ) on any modern new computer .

QEmu, Virtualbox or VMware should be able to handle FC3 OK I'd think?
