Fedora Core 3 help

I just got a pc with fedora core 3 and windows in a dual boot, i was using fedora and i decided i wanted to change the screen resolution. When i changed it , it said i had to boot, but when i was initializing fedora's graphical interface, all i got was a black screen with a small blue rectangle saying to check pc configuration for the screen. I can go into text- mode with no problem at all, but i do not know how to change the graphical interface screen resolution from text mode, can anyone help me???

you have to edit

/etc/X11/XF86conf

file

Look for the screen section and change it to the desired resolution.

You can use vi to edit this file

vi /etc/X11/XF86conf

you should probably get a quick tutorial on vi first though and backup your original copy of this file

Boot into runlevel 3, log in as root and type
system-config-display

It should come up with your hardware, tell it which monitor you have and set colours, resolution etc.

Then if you get the root prompt back type telinit 5 to get graphical login.

The X config file for Fedora Core 3 is /etc/X11/xorg.conf

If all else fails you can edit that.
