fedora core 3 hard disk always busy

I have an installation of Fedora core 3 that I use as a web server mainly.

Recently I have noticed that the hard disk is always busy and it is slowing down my web transactions significantly across my lan.

How can I go about finding out what the offending software is causing this and then stop it from happening?

It's also possible that you don't have enough RAM and that it needs to swap frequently.
