fedora core 3 cannot detect sata hard drive in intel motherboard S5000VSA

Hi All,

i need help installing fedora core 3 on intel motherboard S5000VSA

my server specs:
Intel motherboard S500VSA
1x SATA hard drive 500GB

i want to know if there is someone who had installed fedora core 3 with intel motherboards, because it seems the sata driver for intel motherboard is not supported yet with fedora core 3,

also i've read that i have to make one floppy disk containing the sata driver, is there anyway i can do without floppy?

appreciate your help

Welcome to LQ!!

Fedora core 3 is very old and obsolete. Why not get something more modern--e.g. Fedora 8

Hi pixellany,

Thanks for the welcome

it's just we want to install a software that requires fedora core 3, i got this driver from the motherboard cd for RHEL4 U2-U6, but i still can't seem to get the right driver....

thanks for the tips though, i will ask the software tech support if their software can be run on later version of fedora core,

i have tried installing fc5 already, it worked, but i don't whether the software will work or not

after reading some information, i created driver disk using USB
at startup
i enter linux dd

and then i point to my USB drive

but then i got select driver disk image window, with all the list of the file inside the USB drive:

but everytime i tried to select one file.. i always got the message "Failed to load driver disk from file"

i'm sorry but this may sound stupid since i never install using additional driver before, but does it mean that the driver is still incorrect or what?

what should be in the driver files... and how to load the driver?

many thanks
