Fedora Core 3 and Xvnc?
OK,
Trying to get XVnc running so that I can login to my server from anywhere and not just use the active session. Looking at Applications > System Settings > Server Settings > Services and vncserver is running, under the status however, it says xvnc is stopped. So, I can try and connect to the machine at the minute using vnc and a message pops up on screen asking if I wish to allow the user to view my desktop. Any ideas on how to get XVnc working so I can login to my server as any user and get a proper login rather than the way it is at the minute only getting the current user - and then having to have someone physically there to authorise it? I'm a complete n00b here so if you need me to run any commands (except for maybe an rm -rf /!") to get more information then just give me a shout! TIA, Adam |
Fedora/Red Hat provides a desktop for defined users by default, rather than the "on-demand" service that you want.
I wrote this tutorial on VNC a while ago, which should explain it: http://www.mythic-beasts.com/~hobb/m...ame=VncOnLinux Note that VNC is not secure unless "tunneled" with SSH, which isn't covered. |
Just log on to the user you want in the term and type "vncserver" :P
