Fedora BAD after update

Greetings friends!
Hope you can help me. I am using Fedora (sulphur) and was VERY VERY happy with it....until last night. I updated it (including some source called RAWHIDE which honestly I do not know what it was). After the update several things are happening. First now when the system is loading I do not get the screen with the small letter F and the progression band filling , I get a light blue screen on all the monitor with a small slit and a blue rectangle moving back and forth in the middle of the screen (it appears like the resolution for the monitor is wrong) and the system takes like forever to boot.Once the system boot and ask to pick user and password this again is displayed in a bigger size than usually it was but once you log everything on the scree is as it is supposed to be (regarding size). When I try to use Firefox it appears on the screen with a small window that reads on the top ADD ON but then the browser close suddenly. I tried this several times but it keeps doing the same thing , the home page never loads and the browser close by itself in about 3 seconds after appearing on the screen. I tried re-installing firefox after removing it but is of no use.Can anyone tell me what is heppening and how to solve this? THANK YOU

You could try turning back the updates using yumex or yum-allowdowngrades but that supposes that you know exactlyl what to downgrade. From your description, a lot seems to be wrong: firefox, gdm, possibly xorg, ... And the real trouble is that, once you start downgrading, you are very likely to run into good old dependency hell, where downgrades fail to work or work so well that they rip out half of your other software. Unless you know what you are doing, it may be better to reinstall and make sure that rawhide is disabled.

From your description and from what I know about fedora - RAWHIDE refers to the development branch of fedora.
So: it seems you "updated" your system to the development version, which can (and probably does) have issues...

I don't know of a way to change that back - if this even is a correct description of your problem.

You could remove RAWHIDE from your repositories and try to downgrade...but that is all theory and speculation so far.
Someone using fedora should confirm this or comment on it.

[edit]
I must have worked very long on this - or the tab was not refreshed...
jay73 basically said the same already I guess before I posted

Shoot!!!

If guys with 1,000+ and 3,000+ post say I am screw then.....I am screw!!!.The sad thing is that Fedora was working so well that I was about to kiss Microsh!t goodbye and then here I come and screw everything. No I do not know what exactly was upgraded so a downgrade is out of the question because I am sure I will get stuck in"THE HELL" you guys mention.THANK YOU THANK YOU (is not a hiccup is that I am really thankful) for your help.Let me leave now and start the darn re-installation.

None of us was saying you where "screwed" :/
And since you are willing to reinstall - how much can it hurt to try the suggestion to remove the RAWHIDE repository and attempt a downgrade to stable?
OTOH: a reinstall is done quickly - as long as you don't worry about data you saved.
Downside could be: You will learn to reinstall but not to fix things.
...depends on what you want...

That's the problem, you can't simply downgrade Fedora to this or that version. It's not like gentoo where you can simply use a different mask or set different flags and recompile.

That being said, I agree that it wouldn't hurt to tinker around a bit first. Even if it only makes things worse, just seeing what goes into a distro will make anyone better prepared for future accidents. There's no better distro than one that doesn't work ;D

Right

I was thinking the same just mess around to learn a little before reinstalling. What you say is right reinstallation is faster , I already removed the "RAWHIDE" repository (man is hurtful listening to the word sound to close to suppository lol). I will tinker with it before giving up. Thank for your advise.
