Fedora & WinXP - XP won't boot

I did a clean install of WinXP. I partitioned my 40 gig hd with 20 gig for windows leaving 20 for Fedora.

Then I installed Fedora Core2. I choose to use GRUB and otherwise I let the install program automate everything since I don't know what I'm doing.

When I tried to reboot and go into XP, the screen reads:
Booting WinXP
rootnoverify(hd0,0)
chainloader +1

and it just hangs there.

Any ideas?
Thanks.

a lot of people seem to be having problems with this. check out these links to see if they help:

http://lwn.net/Articles/86835/
or try searching LQ because i've seen this a lot. sorry i don't really know what the answer is but there are many follow up questions that need to be asked about your question before you can solve the problem really.

I installed without a problem, so can't directly help, BUT... if you go over to http://fedoraforum.org/ and post your problem, I guarantee that you'll have help in a hurry. Might also want to do a search there for 'xp grub'; I found over 200 entries, many with problems like yours.

You posted this on the TMF Linux board, didn't you? I was going to answer you there but I'll answer you here instead.

What are the contents of your /boot/grub/menu.lst file? Please post them in a message here.

How did you partition your HD? What partition did you install XP on, and which did you install Linux on?

From a command line window, type in fdisk -ls and copy/paste the results to a message here.
