Fedora 9 - not enough privileges ?

I installed fedora 9. Except gnome, I install everything, including the net server. I try to add livna, I enter the site, click the link, choose "open with software installer", but after the download, I receive the message "you don't have the neccessary privileges to install local packages".
Of course, I was root when I try this.
More, if I try to make update as I am informed when fedora starts, I receive the error message: "org.freepackagekit.update-system auth_admin_keep_always"
Any idea ? Thank you !

So you logged in as root into the graphical desktop, went to their site and tried to do something? First bad is that you shouldn't log in as root on X - this isn't secure, shortly put. Rather log in as a regular user and use kdesu, gksu or some other means of getting root privileges.

Can't the reposity be added by running a package manager and configuring it there? Or just creating a new reposity configuration file, or easier yet, downloading a package that "installs" that reposity configuration file -- as a regular user -- and then installing it using
Code:
rpm -Uvh whatever.rpm
after becoming root using
Code:
su -

Thank you very much for the quick answer. In F8 I succeed to do it without problems - to add livna to my repo by clicking the link "fedora 8". Why is not running on F9 ?
You know, I am curious not only how to solve my problem, but also WHY appear a problem. More, if it tell me that I don't have the neccessary privileges for install local files, how can I install a local file ? (question from logical point of view).
What about my second problem ?" Do you have any Idea ?
Thank you !

For bOuncer - can you tell me more about the safety ? You think I shall use an antivirus or firewall ? Thank you !
