Fedora 9 Can't see KDE & XFCE

Hi....
I have recently installed Fedora 9 on my laptop. While Installing , I keenly selected ALL PACKAGES and ALL OPTIONS in packages. I also Installed GNOME , KDE and XFCE.
But when I boot , it doesn't prompt me to choose Desktop for GNOME or KDE or XfCe on login screen. It directly boots into GNOME only.
Anybody knows , how can I use KDE or XFCE without reinstalling Fedora?? (as KDE and XFCE and necessary packages are already installed.)
Which file i need to modify so that it will prompt me to choose Desktops on login screen????

I can't recall exactly where the option is, but are you saying that you do know where to switch window managers and the kde/xfce options aren't there, or you can't see where to select which window manager to use?

hi billymayday..
thnx for quick reply...
here I don't know how to switch desktops...also one of my friend installed same fedora 9 with same options , but he can see OPTIONS to Choose desktop on his login screen. But I can't see it on my login screen.
I guess there must be some file which I can modify so that these options will appear. BUT I DONT KNOW WHICH FILE TO MODIFY
can you help ?

I think you'll see an option called "sessions" at the bottom of the logon screen (I checked on CentOS not Fedora)

The option "Sessions" is visible after clicking
( or writing ) your name.

With no 'user name' entered, the 'option bar' is blank.

I've had issues where I needed to install the "switchdesk" package before I was prompted at the login screen. Do a

#yum install switchdesk
and then logout and see if it you get the choice

yeah , its working....now i see the 'options' but only GMOME/KDE ...still xfce not appearing...but its ok....n thnx to all...

I have a funny feeling that I may have encountered this issue - it seems that Fedora may not install everything you thought is should.

Try

yum grouplist

then

yum groupinstall "relevant group package name"

jrk007, maybe like billymayday suggested just make one final check to see if you have all the components of xfce installed and do a

#yum groupinstall "XFCE-4.4"

I have this working on Fedora 10

jrk007 04-06-2009 11:05 PM

well, I tried "yum groupinstall xfce" but it says no package found...however I'm sure , i had 'checked' xfce all packages while installing fedora...

billymayday 04-07-2009 06:42 AM

I gave a very specific instruction

yum grouplist

to fine the correct name
