Fedora 8 Live CD does not reboot after installing in the hard drive
Hi Everyone!
This is my first post to this forum. Actually, I have a live CD of fedora 8 and I installed it in the hard drive. I read in the fedora release notes that live images in this cd do not have a 'reboot' option. On rebooting the system manually, fedora 8 should show up with GUI- and that should be the case. But in my case, it is not so.I only see the GRUB menu with no images to boot- not even the image of WinXP.I earlier used fedora6,fedora7, Ubuntu etc and I have the knowledge of making partitions for dual booting as I use WinXP. I use a Pentium 4-HT cpu. Thanks in advance. Prithwish |
Please clarify more. What do you mean by "no reboot" option? Did you reboot by typing reboot command in terminal or just pressed the restar button of computer? Did you let installation finish all the steps? Did you use LVM during parititioning?

Hi Lycan,
I, in fact, used both the options. I rebooted from the command line for the first time. The end result is the grub menu with command line with no images to boot. Then I decided to install from the beginning. After I was congratulated about my successful installation I, this time, manually pressed the restart button. The result was the same.I did not use LVM during partitioning. Now, I don't know where exactly I went wrong. As live installation was not working for me I had to fdisk mbr using the DOS disk to get back to Win. Thanks |
